As part of their social and humanitarian activities, the Miss and Mister of Kesmonds International University launched an initiative on 16 May 2026 entitled “1 Student, 1 Smile”. This solidarity initiative aimed to bring comfort and smiles to children in an orphanage through humanitarian aid and educational and recreational activities.
Driven by a spirit of generosity and solidarity, this initiative received valuable support from the university administration, which assisted the students in organising and carrying out this noble endeavour. Following a successful fundraising drive that raised funds and various donations in kind, a delegation comprising students and a few members of the administrative staff visited the orphanage to spend some time with the children.
In addition to the donations given to the children, the students were keen to put their knowledge to good use for the community by organising an awareness session on first aid. The children were thus taught the precautions to take in the event of a bee sting, snake bite, dog bite, burn or even a fracture. This interactive activity sparked keen interest among the young participants, who took part enthusiastically in the various practical exercises.
The visit was also marked by a significant moment of entertainment and sharing. Upon their arrival, the visitors were warmly welcomed by the children of the orphanage with songs and dances carefully prepared for the occasion. Throughout the day, the children demonstrated their many artistic talents through singing and dancing performances, as well as a remarkable fashion show that amazed all the participants.
This emotionally rich day helped forge strong bonds between the students and the children, whilst conveying a message of solidarity, love and social responsibility. It perfectly illustrates the civic commitment of the students at Kesmonds International University, who aim to actively contribute to the well-being of the most vulnerable communities.
At the end of the visit, a sense of general satisfaction was evident on the faces of those present. For both the beneficiaries and the organisers, the ‘1 Student, 1 Smile’ initiative will remain a memorable occasion, demonstrating that a simple gesture of solidarity can brighten the daily lives of many children and sow hope in their hearts.
