Call for Papers: Revitalizing Entrepreneurship Education in the Asia-Pacific Region

As an outcome of the highly successful 9th UNESCO-APEID Meeting on Entrepreneurship Education, held in Hangzhou, China, from October 26 to 27, 2023—it was attended by more than 200 participants from over 30 countries—participants unanimously agreed to produce a special issue of the Entrepreneurship Education Journal (EEJ) in honor of the late Dr Gwang-Jo Kim, former director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok (2009–2017).

Dr Kim passionately advocated entrepreneurship education and believed it could help address unemployment in the Asia-Pacific region by training and inspiring a new generation of creative, motivated, and adaptable young individuals eager to learn, take on new challenges, and build a brighter future for all. Although his term with the Regional Office ended with his passing in 2017, his legacy of commitment to, and informed fostering entrepreneurship education in Asia-Pacific continues to inform the subject to the present day.

The upcoming special issue of EEJ will cover a range of pertinent topics, including cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset in universities and training institutions; revitalizing the entrepreneurship education network in the Asia-Pacific region; strengthening entrepreneurship education programmes within regional countries; and promoting effective entrepreneurship education activities for youth. The production of the special issue will be a collaborative effort between the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok (UNESCO Bangkok) and Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

This special issue will be guest-edited by Dr Libing Wang, Head of the Entrepreneurship Education Network (EE-Net) Secretariat at UNESCO Bangkok. Current plans are for the issue to be distributed during the 10th UNESCO-APEID Meeting in Entrepreneurship Education, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in October 2024.
