Spain’s starting XI: Pau and Alba return

Luis Enrique’s starting XI for the quarter final sees a couple of changes from the side that beat Croatia, as Pau Torres replaces Eric Garcia and Jordi Alba takes his left-back role in place of Jose Luis Gaya.

15:30 CEST: Belgium’s predicted XI vs Italy

Roberto Martinez is sweating over the fitness of his two best players: Kevin de Bruyne and Eden Hazard.

Belgium’s predicted XI vs Italy: Thibaut Courtois, Toby Alderweireld, Thomas Vermaelen, Jan Vertonghen, Thorgan Hazard, Axel Witsel, Youri Tielemans, Thomas Meunier, Dries Mertens, Romelu Lukaku, Yannick Carrasco

14:30 CEST: Who is at risk of suspension?

UEFA will erase yellow cards after the quarter final stage, meaning that there is one more game to go in which players are at risk of being ruled out of the semi finals. We take a look at the players playing today who are a booking away from missing the final four.

Belgium: Toby Alderweireld, Thorgan Hazard, Thomas Vermaelen

Italy: Nicolo Barella, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Matteo Pessina

Spain: Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Rodri, Pau Torres

13:30 CEST: Switzerland’s predicted XI vs Spain

After their enthralling win over France on penalties in the round of 16, Switzerland will not have any fear as they enter the last eight clash with Spain. Vladimir Petkovic has built a solid side, and is likely to stay loyal to those who have carried them through to this point. However, they have a major absence to deal with in captain Granit Xhaka, who picked up a yellow against France in the last round.

Switzerland’s predicted XI: Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Manuel Akanji, Ricado Rodriguez, Silvan Widmer, Remo Freuler, Denis Zakaria, Steven Zuber, Xherdan Shaqiri, Haris Seferovic, Breel Embolo.

13:00 CEST: Spain’s predicted XI vs Switzerland

Luis Enrique has shown that he will not give in to media or fan pressure over his team selection, and that is not about to change in the quarter finals either. That would mean that Alvaro Morata, despite his questionable form, is a shoe-in, although there could be some rotation in midfield. Jose Luis Gaya played at left-back last time out against Croatia, yet Jordi Alba is expected to come in, and Cesar Azpilicueta looks to have cemented his place on the opposite flank at the expense of Marcos Llorente.

Spain’s predicted XI: Unai Simon, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jordi Alba, Eric Garica, Aymeric Laporte, Sergio Busquets, Koke, Thiago, Ferran Torres, Pablo Sarabia, Alvaro Morata
