ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The IDLO Finance Department is an integral part of the project team which seeks to ensure financial integrity with the goal of realizing a high level of transparency and accountability in the execution of various donors’ projects. The Finance Department places a high value on producing accurate and auditable financial reports for all its stakeholders.
Under the supervision of the Finance Associate, the Finance Assistant will provide financial services ensuring high quality, accuracy, and consistency of work.
THE POSITION
Summary of functions:
Matching supporting documentation (Goods Received Note, Purchase Order, Purchase Request, Bid Analysis, etc) to vendor invoices, recalculating for mathematical accuracy, reviewing for a proper account and grant coding, and, when ready, processing payment.
Help in ensuring timely payment & liquidations of staff advances and reimbursement of travel expenses to IDLO staff members/experts;
Scan monthly financial supporting documents and upload files into IDLO SharePoint
Organize monthly financial supporting documents and courier to Nairobi office.
Assist in recording daily transactions in Navision
Assist in the preparation of national staff payroll.
Review implementing partner’s reports and payment requests and submit findings to Finance and Admin Manager
Assist in developing organizing and maintaining all filing systems (both physical and computerized) maintained by the Finance Office.
Maintain the petty cash and accurately code and record petty cash transactions.
Assist in working with external and internal IDLO auditors
Perform any other similar duties as required by the supervisor.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Academic Qualifications
Secondary Education with specialized certification in Accounting and/or Finance. University degree in Finance or Accounting desirable.
Part-qualified accountants from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage.
Languages
Complete fluency in English and Somali
Work experience
Minimum 3 years relevant finance experience, preferably within international organizations with donor-funded programs desirable
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
Experience with ERP financials, preferably NAVISION, is desirable
Specific knowledge, skills, and competencies
Experience in the usage of computers and MS Office packages
Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
Good organizational skills

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For this locally recruited position, IDLO shall offer the selected candidate an Affiliate contract of 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and availability of funding.
In addition, IDLO shall offer a yearly basic salary of USD 12,000 medical insurance and leave entitlements including in accordance with IDLO Employee Regulations and Rules.
This local position is open to candidates who are nationals of the duty station, or with permanent resident status or other legal authorization permitting them to work in the duty station. An employee subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international employees.
