Job Summary

We are looking for a University graduate with passion to develop their career in the Finance and Accounting field. EngenderHealth’s goal is to provide valuable experience and development opportunities for young professionals. The internship is for a period of six months and will be based in Dar es Salaam.

Essential Functions

The Finance Intern will be exposed to a variety of Finance and Accounting areas, which will include the following;

Review Travel Authorization Form (TAFs) and Travel Expense Report (TERs) to ensure they are complete, accurate and all necessary documents are attached before Accountant’s review

Ensure all invoices are stamped with the ”Authority for payment” stamp before payments.

Ensure Travel expenses reports receipts have been stamped PAID and POSTED before filing

Ensure proper filing of all departmental documents

Assist on scanning monthly financial reports and share with FM and/or HOF

Prepare payments vouchers and other documentation accurately and ensure they are properly coded and supported by the proper documentation

Ensure accounting documents are properly filed and systems are safely maintained

Assist/give Technical Assistance (TA) to field office administrators in any accounting/finance and administration matter

Assist with the preparations for internal and external audits.

Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Ordinary Diploma in Accounting, Finance or other related field from a recognized Institution. Bachelor’s Degree would be an added advantage.

Preferably 1 year of relevant practical experience in an NGO setting

Second class upper division or GPA equivalent of 3.5 and above

Experience in audit would be an added advantage

Preferred Skills, abilities and Functions

Hands-on Computer knowledge with excellent use of accounting packages/programs including Excel, Sage X3

Proven technical expertise in the accounting and operations field.

Conversant with regulatory requirements e.g. PAYE, NSSF, PSSF, W/T and VAT

The capacity to be discrete, honest and disciplined in the management of day to day activities

EngenderHealth does not pay salary to interns. However, a stipend will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in meals and transport costs.
