Gold Fields Graduate Cost Accountant Trainee | What to Expect
Gold Fields Graduate Opportunity in Cost Accountant Trainee is charge with the following responsibilities:
Assist in short, medium and long term operational planning
Review daily cost and preparation of periodic cost and financial reports to aid management decision making
Understand relevant departmental cost and the application of variance analysis and budgetary control principles in the management and control of cost
Ensure accurate cost allocation and classification to generate meaningful information to aid decision making
Understand the impact and relationship between financial accounting and management accounting
Liaise with relevant departments in ensuring that purchase requisitions and purchase orders are raised prior to payments and processing of accurate invoices for payments
Prepare reconciliations of relevant accounts, particularly accounts payables/receivables, cash and bank accounts including resolving suppliers queries on accounts balances
Maintain effective payables ageing analysis and ensuring payments of due invoices are made timely in enhancing working capital management
Assist in the collation of departmental budgets and the total budget preparation for the Mine
Assist with the maintenance of the Fixed Assets Register
Ensure effective communication and liaising with sectional supervisors for accurate and timeous dissemination of departmental costs and other relevant information
Ensure the confidentiality of information at all times
Eligibility Criteria
Tertiary Qualification in Accounting or Bcom
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position or job
Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and a team player
Strong Analytical Skills
Good Knowledge in computerized accounting i.e. SAP ER3 System, Microsoft Office products especially Excel and Power Point
Medical fitness for the position and environment
