Job Description
Title: IT Intern
Location: Nairobi
Reports To: Senior IT Officer
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
Under the guidance of the Senior IT Officer, the IT Intern will be responsible for providing technical support to existing systems/applications within the foundation. He/she will also work with the IT team to ensure routine timely support to the users within the country. During the tenure, the intern will gain valuable experience in IT in a fast-paced environment.
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect as a Title?
Hardware and Software
Keep an updated asset list of functional and Non-functional hardware.
Advice/commend on ICT hard/soft wares to be purchased based on EGPAF ICT minimum requirements.
Ensure IT Hardware is accounted for (confirmations to be done quarterly).
Ensure the surveillance CCTV cameras are running optimally.
Install biometric access control for accountability and security.
Ensure eset anti-virus application is installed and up to date with licenses.
Ensure installation of DPM (Data Protection Manager) to do routine data backups for all users.
Customer service and User support
Schedule one on one OJTs and share tutorials that show guidance and increase capacity to users on EGPAF IT systems.
Reduce time taken by to solve the common problems by documenting steps on how to solve it.
Ensure EGPAF IT Policy on password is implemented 100% on user accounts.
Enhance support remotely by installing TeamViewer/other remote management system to help on accessing PCs for easy troubleshooting.
Help users on cloud based solution on OneDrive; installation, configuration and use.
Internet Connectivity
Ensure maximum internet uptime and document internet downtime.
Continuously monitor internet speeds and liaise with ISP in case of huge variances.
Restrict unproductive usage of internet on other/entertainment URLs/websites that are not adding value to and not compliant to EGPAF ICT policies.
Pushing of policies/rules on internet usage in the firewall to control/redirect bandwidth on the most crucial resources like email, zoom, QB, EKMS.
Development goals
Undertake any related online IT certification courses.
To be successful, you will have:
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, or Information Technology.
Ability to prioritize workload and demonstrate outcomes on strict deadlines.
General hardware maintenance.
Good with basic application/ softwares.
Bonus points if you have:
Understanding of Single sign on application (OKTA) will be an added advantage.
