Morocco has been confirmed as one of the host countries of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The World football governing body said the tournament will be held across three continents, in six countries including Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
Amidst criticism, FIFA said it will be a good way to celebrate the competition’s centenary.
“The Fifa Council, representing the entire world of football, unanimously agreed to celebrate the centenary of the Fifa World Cup, whose first edition was played in Uruguay in 1930, in the most appropriate way” Gianni Infantino said.
“In a divided world, Fifa and football are uniting” he added.
Concerns have been raised over the climate impact it will have, as there will be heavy travelling with more carbon emissions released into the atmosphere.
