Following play-off heartbreak against UD Ibiza and amid speculation over his future, Real Madrid Castilla coach Raul Gonzalez spoke to the press. With Zinedine Zidane having told the first-team squad that he’ll depart at the end of the
season, Raul is among the favourites to replace him. “This is my home and it’s where I want to be,” Raul said after the match against Ibiza while speaking to the press. “It’s not the time to talk about anyone’s future.
“We’ve learnt a lot this year. “I’m an employee of this club. Since I decided to be a coach three or four years ago, it was to be able to be at home, at my club, [to] gain experience, train myself in the best way. “I’m a man of this club, I’m happy at my home and excited to continue.” Raul was insistent that he wanted to focus on the performance of Castilla’s youngsters against Ibiza. “Although it might not seem it, it’s a day to be happy with what this team has done,” he said. “We’ll appreciate it soon, although right now the boys are crying.”
The youth team has provided several players to the Real Madrid first team this season, including Sergio Arribas and Hugo Duro, who both featured against Ibiza on Sunday.
