Both institutions will promote health with training workshops in all the projects
The Real Madrid Foundation and the Dr. Palomo Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at running projects in Africa. Dr. Ignacio Palomo, a gynecologist with international prestige for his medical and humanitarian work, and president of the foundation which bears his name, was welcomed at Real Madrid City by Enrique Sánchez, executive vice-president of the Real Madrid Foundation, and Álvaro Arbeloa, ambassador of the club and its Foundation. The event was also attended by the ambassador for Equatorial Guinea, Miguel Edjang Angué.
The collaboration between the two institutions will launch a socio-sports and sexual and health education project at the Escolapios school in Bata (Equatorial Guinea), which will cater for a hundred children in danger of exclusion. All the students will benefit from these workshops offered by the Dr. Palomo Foundation at the Real Madrid Foundation‘s socio-sports schools on the African continent.
Arbeloa said during the event: “The collaboration with the Dr. Palomo Foundation in Equatorial Guinea is a fantastic opportunity to improve people’s lives by combining healthcare, education, values and sports”. Meanwhile, Ignacio Palomo said: “Prevention with education in sexual and gynecological health is essential for the future of African women. The Foundation’s activity represents the social branch of Grupo Arpa Médica and one of its goals is to shape the future through our more than 25 years of experience in gynaecology and fertility”.
Oyala Centre
Sub-Saharan Africa is the region with the highest rates of infertility and sexually transmitted diseases on the planet, which is why the workshops on reproductive health will bring added value to the training of the beneficiaries of socio-sporting schools. The Dr. Palomo Foundation has been working for five years with the aim of improving health care, with a focus on fertility, gynaecology and the training of young people in responsible sexuality, maternity and paternity.
The institution collaborates in the management of sustainable health systems in Equatorial Guinea, where the group has recently opened the Oyala Centre, a gynaecology and fertility medical centre whose objective is to promote the integration of those people who are unable to have children and to enhance their quality of life.
