A Nigerian man, Oluwayimika Ashore, living in the UK has advised his fellow countrymen to stay home and make money instead of migrating to other countries. Ashore, who is a successful businessman, said that there is nothing abroad for Africans and that they can achieve great things in their home countries.
“They leave Nigeria, selling all they have—houses, cars, and others—just to Come here and live like poor people. Why don’t they stay there with what they have and live happily? It is all about reducing your expenses and increasing your income,” Ashore said.
According to him, “It is all because we want to be given privileges back home. We come to the UK and do 4 different jobs, but back home, you can not do one job just to end up earning nothing. We want to compare ourselves with those riding Benzes here in the UK, forgetting the number of years spent in the UK.”
“There is nothing here in the UK. We can make money here just like we can make money abroad. The only difference is that we will have to work harder here because we don’t have the same opportunities as people in other countries.”
Ashore said that he has seen many Africans come to the UK with high hopes, only to end up disappointed. He said that many Africans end up working low-paying jobs and living in poverty.
“I’m not saying that it’s impossible to make it abroad,” Ashore said. “But it’s much harder than people think. And the odds are stacked against you. If you want to be successful, you’re better off staying home and making money there.”
Ashore’s advice has been met with mixed reactions. Some people agree with him, while others believe that there are still opportunities for Africans abroad. Ultimately, the decision of whether to stay home or go abroad is a personal one.
However, Ashore’s advice is a reminder that there is no easy path to success, no matter where you are in the world. If you want to be successful, you have to be willing to work hard and persevere. And no matter where you are, there are opportunities for you to achieve your dreams.
