    Description

    Yokohama National University (YNU), in collaboration with the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP), proudly announces the opening of applications for its prestigious Master’s Degree Program in Infrastructure Management (IMP) for the academic year 2025-2027. This fully-funded program, supported by the Government of Japan and administered by the World Bank, aims to empower mid-career professionals from developing countries with comprehensive skills in infrastructure management.

    Since its inception in 1995, the IMP has produced over 180 graduates who are actively contributing to the development of their home countries. Yokohama, a model of modern infrastructure development, offers an ideal environment for studying effective infrastructure management practices.

     

    Degree Level

    The degree level for the Master’s Degree Program in Infrastructure Management (IMP) at Yokohama National University (YNU) is a Master’s Degree.

     

    Available Subjects

    The IMP is tailored for government officials and professionals involved in infrastructure policy planning and development. The interdisciplinary curriculum integrates engineering, economics, management, law, and environmental studies, focusing more on management skills than technical engineering.

    Year 1: Coursework in engineering, environment, economics, management, law, Japanese language, mathematics, and computer techniques.

    Year 2: Practicum training aligned with the student’s specialization and thesis submission, a requirement for program completion.

     

    Benefits

    Successful applicants will receive a fully-funded JJ/WBGSP scholarship covering:

    • Monthly living stipend of JPY 170,000 to JPY 200,000.
    • Full coverage of tuition fees, entrance examination fees, and admission fees.
    • Round-trip airfare to and from Japan.
    • Travel allowance for initial relocation.
    • Comprehensive health insurance.

     

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet the following conditions:

    • Nationality: Citizen of a World Bank member country eligible for financing. Dual citizens with developed countries are ineligible.
    • Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) earned at least three years before the application deadline, with strong academic performance.
    • Work Experience: Minimum of three years of recent, full-time, development-related professional work experience post-Bachelor’s degree. Exceptions apply for applicants from fragile or conflict-affected states.
    • Health: Must be in good health.
    • Exclusions: Applicants cannot be Executive Directors, staff, or close relatives of World Bank or IMF personnel.

    Application Procedure

    Applicants must submit the following documents through the YNU Web Application System:

    • Completed Application Form
    • Official Academic Transcripts and Graduation Certificate.
    • Proof of English Proficiency: TOEFL/IELTS scores or a certificate verifying English-medium education.
    • Research Plan: A detailed six-page plan outlining objectives, methodology, and expected results.
    • Two Letters of Recommendation: One from a professional supervisor and one from an academic referee.
    • Academic Performance Entry Sheet: Template provided by YNU. (on official website)
