The World Bank Legal Internship Program enables individuals to bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and the latest research experiences into day-to-day operations from the World Bank and improve their legal skills while working in a multicultural environment. environment.
The objective of the program is to provide you with first-hand experience of the day-to-day operations of the World Bank by working closely with the staff of the Legal Vice Presidency. Responsibilities
Interns will likely be involved in a plethora of tasks, as they arise during the duration of the internship program, such as:
Conduct a variety of legal assignments under the direction of the supervising attorney(s).
Research assigned issues, using existing legal records and alternative sources (e.g., computer-assisted searches of the Internet, intranet, and/or other databases), analyze information, and summarize findings.
Conduct comparative legal analysis on a range of issues in a given area, identify legal and policy issues, research relevant precedents and propose appropriate solutions.
Participate in work/project teams with supervising attorney(s).
Assistance in the preparation and organization of conferences and meetings.
Perform ad hoc missions at the request of the supervising lawyer(s).
Cost
The World Bank will not compensate participants in the World Bank Legal Internship Program in the form of honoraria/monetary compensation. Each World Bank Legal Intern must, however, be remunerated in accordance with World Bank Group policies and standards in the form of (i) honoraria/monetary compensation paid by the university or other sponsoring organization and acceptable to the Bank ; or (ii) academic credit equivalent to the Bank’s fee schedule. Therefore, students participating in the World Bank Legal Internship Program must secure appropriate sources of funding for the duration of their internships.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold the citizenship of any IBRD Member State;
Be enrolled in an LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD or equivalent legal university program while you are undertaking your internship (for example, if you are applying for the LIP summer cycle, you must be enrolled in a legal university program eligible between June and August)
Have an excellent command of the English language.
