Beijing, Oct 25 (EFE).- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with the United States “to contribute to each other’s progress and push for common prosperity,” state-owned Xinhua agency reported Wednesday.
Xi also said that Beijing was willing to work with Washington to “properly manage differences, and make joint efforts to tackle global challenges, contribute to each other’s progress, and push for common prosperity so as to deliver benefits to both countries and the whole world.”
Xi’s statement was a part of a congratulatory message to the annual Gala Dinner of the National Committee on US-China Relations, held in New York on Tuesday.
In his message, the Chinese president stressed the importance of the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, the basis on which Beijing claims to underpin its bilateral relations.
Xi’s remarks also come a day before Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s scheduled visit to Washington to meet with his US counterpart, Antony Blinken.
Earlier in October, Xi had said the relationship between Washington and Beijing would determine the fate of humanity, following a meeting with the first delegation of US senators to visit China in four years.
Experts believe the continuing rapprochement between Beijing and Washington could lead to a potential meeting in November between US President Joe Biden and Xi in San Francisco on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
The relationship between Beijing and Washington has been through rough waters in recent years due to the trade and technological war, the imposition of sanctions, the conflict in Taiwan and the war in Ukraine. EFE
