About University of Geneva
The University of Geneva (French: Université de Genève) is a public research university located in Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded in 1559 by John Calvin as a theological seminary and law school. It remained focused on theology until the 17th century, when it became a center for Enlightenment scholarship. In 1873, it dropped its religious affiliations and became officially secular. Aim and Benefits of University of Geneva Excellence Master Scholarship
- Excellence Fellowship grant of CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year, awarded for one year and extendable for the regular duration of the Master’s program (three or four semesters) upon academic success.
- No teaching duties are required of fellowship recipients.
Requirements for University of Geneva Excellence Master Scholarship Qualification
- Outstanding and highly motivated students wishing to pursue a Master of Science degree in one of the Faculty of Science’s disciplines at the University of Geneva.
- Applicants who have completed or are in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree with excellent results.
- Applicants must meet the admission criteria of their chosen Master’s program.
- Students who have already started a Master’s program at the Faculty of Science are not eligible.

- Selection is based on academic excellence and motivation, evaluated through the application file.

Documents Required for Application
- A scanned copy of your national ID or passport.
- A Curriculum Vitae (maximum two pages).
- Bachelor’s degree transcript with all grades.
- A motivation letter detailing your scientific interests and reasons for choosing the University of Geneva.
- (If possible) Two letters of reference from professors, sent directly by them to Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch.
- Other pertinent information, such as GRE or TOEFL test results.
