Organisational Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP’s Ecosystems Division works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and

advisory services for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition. This position is located in the Ecosystems Division at the Nairobi duty station.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Administrative Officer, the intern will:

Undertake research and analysis on various administrative/programmatic/finance/human resources/legal related issues and assist with compiling information and data as requested.

Create, update and maintain Excel tables/reports, surveys, statistics and presentations;

Support the review, cleanup and restructuring of the shared filing system in MS Teams; c6IevPB CWdGUx

Assist in creating themed information folders in MS Teams, providing SOPs and information on various processes, rules and regulations for ease of reference by colleagues in the Division.

Provide administrative support for daily office operations, including drafting routine communication and individual responses to client queries;

Education

Business Administration, Management, Project Management, Finance, Economics, Commerce or Human Resources. 4th Year Undergraduate or recent graduate at Bachelors’ or Masters’ Level.

Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor ‘s level or equivalent).

(c) Have graduated with a university degree.

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required.
