ABOUT WFP
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. WFP’s Regional Bureau in Cairo (RBC) recognizes that its core role is to ensure that country offices are able to perform and meet their objectives and that this accountability is shared with HQ. This objective will be achieved by interfacing with country offices at three different levels:
strategic direction and guidance: develop, disseminate and coordinate core corporate policies, procedures and guidelines that facilitate WFP’s work in meeting its mandate, supporting its operations and implementing its strategic plan; mobilize resources in close partnership with global stakeholders; and manage human and financial resources.
technical support: provide functional support to country offices for the design, implementation and management of quality programmes; ensure effective emergency preparedness and response; and manage and disseminate information, knowledge and learning
management oversight: provide management oversight through the monitoring of performance in the achievement of programme objectives; monitor compliance with standards and the effectiveness of control activities at all levels of WFP, and monitor risks and take corrective actions.
The internship is with RMCU, the intern will join RMCU team to contribute to and support the RMCU during its mission to provide advice and support to RBC and COs on all matters related to enterprise risk management and internal control management.
