The background/the partner organization
The Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation (MEF) is a very well connected training and research institution that has already been accredited by various government agencies. MEF offers university as well as vocational and theological training. The spectrum ranges from agri-entrepreneurship, education and social sciences to the health sector and the hospitality industry. Especially in response to climate change, MEF’s education programs have been adapted with a focus on practical courses in small animal husbandry and agri-processing for smallholder farmers. MEF owns over 1,000 hectares of land in Kitwe District.
Job scope/The tasks
You will support MEF in strengthening village resilience through agro-ecological measures:
In particular, you will be responsible for the following:
Capacity building for MEF staff and the District Agricultural Coordination Office (DACO) through training on agro-ecology. (E.g. on the use of traditional seeds and natural fertilizer and compost management).
Establishment of demonstration fields in the project area
Technical support for students of the agricultural training program in the practical phase of their studies.
Support for the introduction of a monitoring system for field work
Networking of MEF with national and international organizations in the field of agro ecology.
Your profile
You enhanced your degree in agricultural sciences with a focus on agroecology by
An additional qualification in water management for smallholder agriculture
Your high level of gender competence and practical experience in gender-sensitive advisory work
Your methodological competence in participatory workshop design
Your excellent knowledge of English and your willingness to actively learn a local language
Your enjoyment of living and travelling in rural areas
Please note that citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or Switzerland is a formal requirement.
