    Duties and Responsibilities

    The intern will be operating as part of the Global Programme on Crimes that Affect the Environment (GPCAE) in the UNODC Regional Office for West and Central Africa (ROSEN), under the general guidance of the Regional Coordinator of GPCAE for West and Central Africa. The intern will assis to draft posts for the Global Programme, support to organize several events and activities and assist to create a calendar of events for at least 3 months. The intern will also support the Regional Coordinator of GPCAE in the implementation of the GP workplan in West and Central Africa, as well as for the preparation of various activities under the GP framework. The Intern will carry out the following activities:

    • answering questions about the GP
    • scheduling events and activities
    • creating content for posts on the network
    • researching and inviting guest speakers
    • researching workshop topics and supporting the design of workshops

     

    Qualifications/special skills

    Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

    • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)

    (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION) Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage.

     

    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

    Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
