Qualification: Certificate in high schooling (essential).

  • Sector experience: Minimum of 2 year/s of demonstrable relevant experience in communicating & working with a wide range of stakeholders & communicating with communities experience (essential).
  • Geographical experience: Minimum of 2 year/s of experience in Africa (essential).
  • Languages: Fluent in Portuguese (essential). Working level in English (desirable). Fluent in any local language(s) (essential).

 

CTG overview

Overview of position

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the energy project implementation activities i.e., awareness raising on clean energy technologies & related impacts & also coordinate all the energy related activities in the resettlement sites. The incumbent will also support with village saving & lending group training.

 

Role objectives

Community awareness & education:

  • Educate households on clean energy access & its benefits.
  • Raise awareness about Village Savings & Lending models (VSLAs) as a tool for improving access to energy.
  • Highlight the health, environmental, educational & economic impacts of clean energy.
  • Promote opportunities for productive use of energy in households & small businesses.
  • Provide guidance on financial inclusion & access to financing for energy solutions.
  • Encourage efficient use of energy resources to maximize benefits.

 

Coordination & information management:

  • Coordinate energy activities in resettlement sites in collaboration with community leaders, solar companies, saving & lending groups.
  • Maintain records of all energy related activities & compile reports using the energy information sheet.
  • Prepare detailed weekly reports on energy related activities & progress.
  • Manage the energy information desk, logging visits & inquiries.
  • Document & report complaints following our clients Complaint & Feedback Mechanism (CFM).

 

Additional responsibilities:

Perform any other duties as assigned by the project team to support the implementation of energy initiatives.

 

Expected output:

  • Households are educated on clean energy access.
  • Households are educated on VSLA’s & how they can be used as a model to improve clean energy access.
  • Households are educated on impacts of clean energy access i.e impacts on health, environment, education, livelihoods etc
  • Household are educated on opportunities of clean energy access & economic activities.
  • Household have access to a reliable & accountable CFM.
  • Household have access to information on the project & activities.
  • Households & small businesses are educated on productive use of energy.
  • Households & entrepreneurs are educated on financial inclusion & access.
  • Households are educated on efficient use of energy resources.
  • Project activities are coordinated in the resettlement sites with stakeholders & partners i.e community leadership, solar companies, clean cooking companies, saving & lending groups etc.
  • VSLA are established & supported across the project implementation.

 

Project reporting

Weekly reports on:

  • All energy related activities in the sites.
  • All energy activities conducted.
  • All the VSLA activities.
  • CFM report.

Additionally, the candidate must:

  • Record in the attendance book all the visits to the information desk & purpose of the visit.
  • Record & report on complaints as per the our clients CFM SOP.

 

Key competencies

  • High school certificate is required, a bachelor degree is desired.
  • Certificate in Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is desired.
  • A driving license for motorcycle is desired.
  • 2 years experience in communicating & working with a wide range of stakeholders & communicating with communities.
  • Experience in training of communities.
  • Experience in the energy sector.
  • Prior & relevant experience in central Mozambique preferably in Sofala province.
  • Must be fluent in Portuguese & any local language.
  • Working knowledge of English is required.
  • Good communication, interpersonal & organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated gender awareness & gender sensitivity.
  • Ability to work effectively & harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures & professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility & drive for results.
  • Digital skills (Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
