    Overview

    RTI International seeks a prospect for the Contracts Internship within the Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences (SSES) unit.

     

    This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI’s supplemental staffing partner.

     

    The Contracts and Subcontracts group supports RTI’s business units, including Social, Statistical, and Environmental Science (SSES), Discovery Sciences (DS), Innovation Advisors (IA), and Technology Advancement & Commercialization (TAC) units. The institute’s domestic business units primarily perform work on contracts and grants with the U.S. Federal Government. The Contracts and Subcontracts group supports the contractual needs of the business units by mitigating risk and ensuring compliance in interactions with clients and subcontractors.

     

    Learning Objectives:

    • Opportunity to engage in portions of RTI’s dynamic contracts lifecycle, including project-based activities which support proposal development, procurement, contract management, and/or project closeout.
    • Learn about important public policy issues in health, environment, education, criminal justice, and social welfare.
    • Gain professional experience in a dynamic work environment, while building knowledge and skills through a project-based internship tasks.

    Responsibilities

    Pre-Award Contracts

    • Gather administrative data and documents for proposal submission
    • Assist in organization of proposal records
    • Develop a shared master repository of working materials needed by the team
    • Attend proposal kick-off meetings
    • Internal coursework related to proposal activities

     

    Post-Award Contracts

    • Researching contractual clauses as needed
    • Assisting with reporting preparation
    • Organize shared information in folders and databases
    • Contracting database system record updates
    • Support RTI’s Contracts team in the implementation of new technologies

     

    RTI’s Internship Program emphasizes experiential and mentored learning experiences. Interns are exposed to the institute’s mission to improve the human condition through projects, professional development trainings, and networking. Program participants have opportunities to engage with staff and fellow interns virtually and in-person. Each summer, interns are encouraged to participate in RTI’s annual internship showcase. A two-day hybrid event, the end-of-summer celebration showcases internship experiences and achievements. Come and grow with us!

     

     

    Additional Information

    This is a paid-fully remote internship. The internship is scheduled to start May 2025 and end August 2025. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 32 hours per week.  Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.

    Qualifications 

    • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master, J.D., MBA, or related degree field) OR bachelor’s degree holder recently enrolled in a graduate program (Master, J.D., MBA, or related degree field starting Fall 2025)
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
    • Strong research skills including the ability to seek information within shared drives, internal websites, or other databases.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders while maintaining a professional demeanor.
    • Apt in balancing following directions and taking initiative, as situationally appropriate.
    • Capacity to think critically, identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities from disparate sets of information and provide clear conclusions.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills, organization, and attention to detail.

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s, MBA, or J.D. candidate in their final year of study OR recent Master’s, MBA, or J.D. degree recipient (degree received in August 2024 or later)
    • Coursework in contract writing, grants management, nonprofits, or similar
    • Related experience and interest in government contracting, non-profits, and/or risk assessment.
    • Demonstrated success working with teams in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment
