Fraud alert education event to be held in Red Deer next month

A fraud prevention education event will be held March 5 in the Red Deer Public Library.

As March is Fraud Prevention Month, this free event will run from 9 a.m. to noon. It will include guest speakers and information booths addressing online scams and frauds, business frauds, investment scams, mass marketing and phone scams.

The event is organized by the Central Alberta Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Clinic, in partnership with the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association.

During the month of March, police and law enforcement agencies, and community and consumer groups on the Alberta Fraud Prevention Month committee will be raising awareness of how members of the public can better protect themselves against fraudsters.
