GLF Social Media Intern
Overview
The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) is the world’s largest knowledge-led platform on integrated land use, dedicated to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Climate Agreement. The Forum takes a holistic approach to create sustainable landscapes that are productive, prosperous, equitable and resilient and considers five cohesive themes of food and livelihoods, landscape restoration, rights, finance, and measuring progress. It is led by the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), in collaboration with its co-founders UNEP and the World Bank and Charter Members. The GLF is founded on four principles: connecting, sharing, learning and acting and has produced global conferences in the following cities: Warsaw, Lima, London, Glasgow, Paris, Marrakech, Jakarta, Bonn, Washington DC, Nairobi, Katowice, Kyoto Accra, Madrid, New York and Luxembourg. And in 2022 we will hold both digital and hybrid conferences with a global and regional focus on Africa and Latin America. From building the investment case for sustainable landscapes, to developing a gold standard for Indigenous Peoples rights, to supporting the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the GLF has been at the cutting edge in hosting and facilitating all manner of discussions to accelerate positive action for people, for the environment, and for the achievement of global climate and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Duties and responsibilities
The GLF Social Media Intern will support the GLF Social Media Consultant to identify and reach out to draft and post content, liaise with partner organizations’ social media teams, identify new opportunities and monitor statistics. Use scheduling tools such as Sprout Social for various social media channels on a daily basis. Use basic design platforms such as Canva to create audio-visual material.
Under the supervision of the GLF Digital and Communications Hub Manager, the Intern will perform following tasks: · Assist the GLF Social Media Consultant by sourcing content, researching and gathering information on social media tools and tactics for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube;
- Assist with the development, distribution and maintenance of GLF social media channels and materials;
- Help liaise with Global Landscape Forum partner organizations ahead of, during and after digital and in-person events on social media;
- Liaise with GLF’s social media audiences;
- Help prepare social media strategy for events, Landscape News stories, partner events and more;
- Support the Social Media Ambassadors program;
- Perform other relevant ad-hoc projects and assignments related to social media as required.
Education, knowledge and experience
Be a student or a recent graduate of a bachelor’s or master’s program in communications, journalism, international relations, advertising, media or related discipline
Have experience in project management and coordination, as well as multi-platform social media best practices,
Interest in the field of environment, restoration or climate
Be fluent in English (essential); proficiency in other languages (esp. French and Portuguese) an advantage.

This is an internship opportunity for 6 months.
CIFOR-ICRAF’s employment conditions follow local labor laws and regulations. CIFOR-ICRAF will employ suitable candidates regardless of nationality, provided that they comply with the local requirements for working at the posting location.
CIFOR-ICRAF may provide the Intern with a monthly stipend or living allowance. The stipend or living allowance provided to the Intern shall follow the rate used by the Human Resources Unit for Interns at CIFOR.
