in an engineering field earned within the last five years? The National Research Council Canada (NRC)
is offering a unique opportunity through its Research Associate Program, designed to provide promising scientists and engineers with hands-on research experience. Program Overview and Work Arrangements

The Research Associate Program offers term-based appointments with an initial two-year duration, which may be extended up to a maximum of five years based on performance and organizational requirements. Work arrangements are flexible, with a hybrid model that includes both onsite and telework options. However, associates who telework are expected to visit the office at least three times a week or spend a minimum of 60% of their work schedule onsite at their own expense.

Eligibility Criteria and Who Can Apply?

You are eligible for the Research Associate Program if you meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a Ph.D. in natural sciences or engineering or a Master’s degree in an engineering field earned within the last five years.
  • Have demonstrated ability to perform high-quality, original research in your field.
  • Meet the Reliability Status condition of employment.
  • Priority may be given to candidates from the following employment equity groups:
  • Women
  • Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis)
  • Persons with Disabilities
  • Racialized Persons
  • Candidates are encouraged to self-declare during the application process.
