BACKGROUND

The Vaccine Forecasting and Grant Operations team, sitting within the Finance department, supports Gavi by supporting vaccine forecasting at a macro- and micro-level and executing grant operations. This includes. This stipend-supported role will provide support to the micro-level and grant operations components of the time, whose main functions include: Micro-level:

Develop tools, methodologies, and guidance to support country-level vaccine dose forecasting for new programmes and renewals (on-going programmes), as well as monitoring & adjustments

Set vaccine dose quantification requirements, and provide quality control and scrutiny to ensure efficient use of resources at a country-level.

Grant operations:

Transform vaccine dose decisions into financial system through Approval Requests, POs, and Goods Receipting to execute orders with UNICEF and other partners;

Improve and maintain relevant systems.

KEY RESULTS EXPECTED

Effective support (analytical, detail-oriented, and timely) to the team in conducting Vaccine renewals and grant operations across ~70 countries and ~300 vaccine programmes.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Support the team in the management and development of improved Vaccine renewals processes and tools;

Support and develop PowerPoint and Word document materials to synthesise quantitative and qualitative information, targeted at appropriate audiences;

Conduct quantitative analyses using Excel and/or R (or equivalent code);

Review and provide detail-oriented quality checks across the Vaccine renewals portfolio;

Support the team in processing grant materials;

Coordinate internal stakeholder discussions and meetings, following through on relevant actions points.

Work Experience

Experience or interest/ understanding of immunisation programmes and vaccines – please see the Gavi website for an introduction;

Demonstrable experience and/ or interest in global health and international development;

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills;

Preference for candidates with ability to conduct analyses through development of reproducible code, e.g., R.

Skills/Competencies

Excellent analytical, quantitative, and synthesising capabilities;

Excellent communication skills and an outstanding command of written and spoken English;

Experience delivering on discrete activities that contribute to fast-moving projects;

Excellent initiative – ability to see links between areas, identify and propose improvements to processes and outputs;

Preference for experience of low-income country setting and exposure to diverse contexts;

Detail-oriented and data-driven;

Excellent team player, enthusiastic, and results driven.

Languages

Fluency in English.

Academic Qualifications

Completed, or on-track to complete a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, physics, finance) and/ or in a field related to global health, international development, public administration etc.
