As part of its commitment to the professional development of young people, UNICEF offers this internship to provide a learning opportunity within an international organization. This internship will allow the intern to develop practical skills and gain valuable experience in various areas covered by the organization’s Representation.
How can you make a difference?
Main responsibilities:
- Communication Coordination/PAFEEM
- Organize monthly Communication/PAFEEM meetings.
- Write the minutes of these meetings.
- Participate in PAFEEM meetings and submit summaries to the Representative.
- Analysis of the socio-political environment of Mali
- Develop a weekly summary (one page) on the socio-political environment of Mali.
- Propose an analytical structure for these weekly reports.
- Participate in field visits with the Communications team.
- Write a summary report (one page) on the progress and challenges observed.
- Support for advocacy for children’s rights
- Assist in advocacy activities with senior Malian authorities.
- Contribute to the preparation of necessary documents and materials.
- Support for internal and external meetings Identify and prioritize key meetings in consultation with Fatoumata Ba and the Representative.
Delegate secondary meetings to other colleagues (Deputy Representative, Section Heads, etc.).
- Correspondence management
- Draft responses to certain letters intended for the Representative’s signature.
- Ensure the quality and conformity of official correspondence.
- Other tasks
Respond to other requests from the Representative as needed
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- University degree in social sciences, international relations, communications, law or any other relevant field.
- Good Good analytical and synthesis skills.
- Excellent writing skills in French.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Interest in socio-political issues and children’s rights.

Remarks:
UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
