Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the economic and social development of the region. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. For more information, please visit our website www.eclac.org. The internship at the  Santiago Library will last 4 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, based on needs. Under the general supervision or guidance of the Head of the Library. The intern will work on various  multimedia and outreach initiatives.

Tasks will include:

  • Production and editing of visual content: Create and edit videos and graphics for social media platforms, websites and other digital channels.
  • Support in video recording: Assist in the filming of visual material, ensuring that the quality and technical elements are adequate.
  • Media Management: Efficiently organize and maintain an archive of videos, images, and other media assets.
  • Creative Project Collaboration: Work alongside the creative team to develop innovative and engaging visual concepts.
  • Video Editing on Brief: Edit recorded material according to specific project requirements and brand vision.
  • Applying Visual Effects and Transitions: Use editing tools to add effects, transitions, and other visual elements that enhance video quality.
  • Video Optimization: Ensure videos are properly optimized for various platforms while maintaining appropriate quality and size.
  • Video Review and Adjustments: Conduct ongoing video reviews and apply adjustments based on team or client feedback.
  • Assist the team in developing engaging content for social media and other communication and outreach channels.

 

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Audiovisual Communication Graphic Design Communication Sciences Film or Media Production Digital Media Information Technology (with a focus on multimedia) Advertising and Digital Marketing Information Architecture or Library Science (with a focus on technology) Art and Multimedia Multimedia Engineering without experience required

 

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

 

Intern Specific text

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
