The Afdb Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (Jads) Program 2024/2025 For Young Africans

Applicants from African Development Bank member nations who are pursuing graduate degrees in energy development and related fields and have appropriate work experience as well as a track record of aiding their nation’s development efforts are eligible for this scholarship.

Program Type: Fully Funded

Program Benefits

Full tuition plus living expenses of 140,000 JPY per month (amount subject to vary)
Air travel in economy class to and from the home country and APU at the start and finish of the program

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a citizen of an AfDB member country.
  • Must be 35 years old or younger.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in fields such as energy, agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, engineering, or related disciplines, with strong academic performance, relevant professional experience, and a proven commitment to your country’s development.
  • Must have at least one year of paid work experience in your home country or other African nations within the past three years after obtaining your bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Must currently reside and work in your home country.
  • Must not be enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • Must not be an Executive Director, alternate, or staff member of any type within the African Development Bank Group, nor be closely related by blood or adoption to someone in these positions, where “close relative” includes parents, siblings, children, and certain extended family members.
  • Must agree to return to your home country to contribute to its economic and social development after completing studies under this program.

Application Procedure

Make a request to be considered for this scholarship using the APU Online Application by September 16, 2024 (for enrolment in April 2025) or January 10, 2025 (for enrolment in September 2025). There is no need to submit an application or any other paperwork to be eligible for this scholarship.
After examining application materials, APU chooses qualified applicants to forward to the AfDB-JADS.
The candidates whose applications are recommended for this scholarship are notified along with the outcomes of their final APU applications.
The AfDB-JADS makes the ultimate decisions regarding scholarship awards.
