What does the Busara Center do?

Busara implements research for organizations around the world, ranging from qualitative in-depth studies to lab experiments to large-scale randomized control trials. In addition, Busara’s advisory arm works with governments, non-profit organizations and private sector enterprises on improving their policies and products: Through incorporating insights from behavioral economics, we help organizations understand decision-making and enable them and the people they serve to make better and more informed choices.

About the Internship

The Administrative Intern will play a crucial role in Business Development and Sales Support, assisting our Business Development Team to streamline operations and drive the efficiency of our Business Development (BD) processes. Your efforts will be instrumental in coordinating projects, managing resources, and providing administrative and technical support throughout the sales lifecycle. This is a full time internship for an initial period of 3 months.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Opportunity Scouting and Management:

Assist in scouting for new business opportunities, including performing stakeholder landscaping and identifying relevant networking conferences and events and linking them with the relevant portfolio team leads.

Support tracking of leads and opportunities through the BD phases, ensuring timely decisions, and action and follow up.

Help compile and analyze data on opportunity performance, and prepare reports for senior management with insights and recommendations.

Assist in managing client databases and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to ensure that client information is accurate and up-to-date.

Support follow-up with clients as needed to ensure client satisfaction and to gather feedback for service improvement.

Help prepare documents related to bids and contracts.

Support handling client inquiries ensuring all communications are logged and followed up promptly.

Support the sales team in managing schedules, setting appointments, and organizing meetings.

Provide administrative support for the coordination of BD activities, including onboarding new staff and organizing BD review meetings.

Resource Coordination and Support:

Manage and update Business Development resources such as organizational documents, reports, proposals, and people profiles.

Support cross-functional coordination during the preparation of proposals and maintain the Business Development opportunities and proposal databases.

Utilize project management tools to track project progress, assist in communications, support budget tracking and reporting, and compile feedback for process improvements.

Assist in managing and standardizing Business Development tools, templates, and resources.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.

Experience in a sales role, preferably within a consultancy or professional services environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM software.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with tight deadlines.

Strong analytical skills and comfort with handling financial data.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and a team-oriented attitude.

This internship is open to applicants who have a pre-existing legal right to work in Kenya.
