Capada-Kesmondsinternationalstudents, Teachers And Parent International Conference – Bangem

The collaboration between Kesmonds International University and Center for Aging, Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, CAPADA was initiated after a successful Conference and partnership exchange event between Liontech Solution Academy Canada Ltd and Kesmonds International University organized in March 2024 at the Buea Mountain Hotel. The networking conference lead to the Interest of CAPADA to collaborate with Kesmonds for future projects. In that light a conference was organized at Bangem to consolidate the collaboration between the two parties under the theme: Empowering Futures and unlocking Global Opportunities through Quality Higher Education.

 

After a series of meetings, the conference was finally slated for the 18th July 2024. The Ngaoundere team left Ngaoundere on 15th July and arrived Melong on 17th July where they were then picked up by the Bangem organization committee at Melong and transported to Bangem, upon arrival they went to meet with the Lord Mayor of the town who immediately agreed to meet them. The mayor said he was happy to receive us and greatly welcomed our initiative adding that it will be a great opportunity for the youths of the community of Bangem. He then went on to say the call for Administrative duty but he would make sure the deputy mayor is present and will get more details of the event.  While the team from Bamenda left on the 17 July and arrived Melong and were transported by the Bangem. While at Bangem a first meeting was held with by the Kesmonds Assigned delegation where ground issues where discussed and various tasked were assigned. The second meeting was between Kesmonds delegation and the Bangem organizers to discuss over the conference organization which was scheduled for the next day. Directives were given, program for the D-day was commented upon and finalized, and other document necessary for the conference was also printed for the conference.

On the first they of the conference, we made a tour around town to sensitize the population on the present conference. After the tour was the conference which started with the national anthem then followed a word of prayer by the principle of a neighboring town. After the prayer came a speech from the Deputy Mayor who welcome us and praised us for this wonderful event as it is of great impact to the youths of her community. Then came a speech from the National Director for Kesmonds International University Cameroon who thanked the Bangem community for their warm reception and the opportunity given and went on to offer the students a lot of opportunities such as; 10 fully funded scholarships, partially funded scholarships through a written entrance exam that had been officially launched at Bangem and will be written in 7 different regions within Cameroon. He also proposed a short training program for awareness and soft knowledge skill acquisition.

The National Directors’ speech was followed by that of the CAPADA president who thank Kesmonds for coming to their community and said EMPOWER FUTURE, UNLOCKING GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION was a real necessity for the youths of Bangem and that partnering with Kesmonds was a real chance of remedying to the high level of alcohol consumption and drugs abuse in that community. He called upon the youths to have a more responsible attitude towards themselves by doing the right thing and taking initiatives.

The Divisional Delegate of Civic Education and Youth Affairs said he was fortunate to attain such a conference and that he recommend an annex of Kesmonds be establish in the Bangem community for the School of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences most especially.

Later, the Director of Research for Kesmonds International University gave a general presentation on Kesmonds, presenting its accreditations and offers of the various schools at Kesmonds. This presentation was later followed by that of the National Director of Kesmonds International university who presented on the power of networking, indicating this through soft skill development coupled with the fact Kesmonds had short training programs and that it was imperative for people to open their minds to speakers at a conference and to know people who marked you during such occasions. Started with a presentation of Kesmonds International University by the Director of partnership and Corporate affairs who gave a rundown of all the activities done at Kesmonds and the prospective projects Kesmonds have for its student and to the world at large. This presentation was followed by another presentation by the Head of Department for the School of Health and Medical Science who launched the entrance exams while detailing the necessary requirements per faculty. She also presented the different services of Kesmonds Group Limited and a question and answer session was launched after which followed a working season on career orientation, during which participants were drilled on their career choices and why it was imperative for them to know what they wanted before integrating the university. Each participant was asked on their career choices and the replied from some students was very interesting given that they already knew what they wanted and just needed orientation on how to go about it. Out 20 students, 7 still needed real guidance and Kesmonds representatives said their doors were open for any form of information the student needed. This went on for about an hour after which the conference was officially ended with a closing remark encouraging the youths to be mindful of the career choices and how they wanted their tomorrow to look like.
