Job description

The GIZ health project “Supporting the Health System and Familiy Planning for Resilience in Cameroon” aims to improve the supply of the population with health services, such as sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as psycho-social support. The project is working in the Littoral Region, and works together with the Regional Delegation of Public Health (the regional public health authority), and supports the development and the use of the national health infomation system “District Health Information Software (DHIS2)”.

Your tasks

Training of employees of the regional delegation of public health and selected districts in the areas of data survey methodologies and quality management of data

Advising the regional delegation of public health on data analytics based on the electronic data base DHIS2

Supporting the regional delegation of public health in the coordination and collaboration with other actors

Supporting the regional regional delegation of public health in networking with multi- and bilateral partners

Supporting the collaboration on interregional and national level in order to improve the flow of data

Development of a digital chart of the health sectors’ actors

Your profile

University degree in social or health sciences, or in a relatable subject; ideally with a major in quantitative data survey methodologies cwkqaWI CWdGXV

Work experience with the use and maintenance of data bases; deepened knowledge of DHIS2 are of advantage

Knowledge of or experience with monitoring and evaluation of health programmes are of advantage

Ability to work in a team and networking skills combined with the talent to think conceptually and analytically

Structured work style with a high degree of self-organisation and flexibility

Openness to other cultures and good adaptability skills

Fluency in French and at least good English skills; knowledge of German or other languages is of advantage

There is an international and domestic airport in Douala and public transport intercity buses and national air traffic with good connections to the capital Yaoundé, as well as good connections by bus to the other regions of Cameroon

Climate: Douala is located in the tropical climate zone. The average annual temperature is 26.2 degrees Celsius and the average annual rainfall is 3847 millimeters. Temperatures are between an average of 24.6 and 27.6 degrees Celsius all year round. During the rainy season from June to October there is a lot of precipitation. August is the rainiest month with an average of 768 millimeters. It stays drier between November and March.

As well as your basic living allowance, as a development worker you will also receive extensive additional benefits during your assignment (including a foreign service premium, family allowances, private group health insurance).

We will cover a large portion of the childcare costs for dependent children under 14 who are accompanying you if your partner is not doing so and is not a development worker or integrated expert themselves. Most nursery and school fees are paid.
