We are looking for an engaged

Market Development and Communications Specialist – Eastern Africa (m/f/d), who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

The Scope

FSC seeks to hire a Market Development and Communications Specialist for Eastern Africa to lead its market development initiatives and grow the market for sustainable wood and associated products across the sub region. In this position, the Market Development and communications Specialist will build awareness, market, communicate and strengthen use of the FSC brand, and develop partnerships and alliances to support FSC market related dialogues and projects.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

To Develop and implement Eastern Africa Marketing and Communications Strategy that aligns with the FSC Eastern Africa priorities.

Support local FSC certificate holders and potential certificate holders with marketing and communications content describing the value of FSC.

Stimulate interest with large brand owners and/or government in signing Promotional Trademark License Agreements (PTLAs).

Build awareness and strengthen the use of the FSC brand through campaigns, targeted events, business forums, relevant social media channels and existing FSC information dissemination platforms.

Build relationships and links with the FSC Africa Regional office and Regional Network Partners.

Support the sub regional team in the collection and drafting of media stories/articles for publication in the newsletters, press releases, social media channels as agreed with the Coordinator, Eastern Africa.

Develop and manage Eastern Africa Social Media channels including analysis and reports on the use value.

Additional tasks as agreed with the Coordinator of Eastern Africa.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Education and Training:

University degree in marketing, Business Development, or related field and a formal training in communications

Working Experience, Style and Skills:

At least 4 years professional experience in marketing, brand promotion, business analysis, and communications with exemplary verbal and written communication skills. c1OOA8g CWdGUg

Excellent knowledge of marketing and communications strategy development and implementation.

Strong interest and appreciation of responsible forest management and sustainability within the forestry and environment disciplines.

Ability to apply active listening skills and establish and maintain positive interpersonal business relationships with the corporate sector.

Highly competent in the development and promotion of social media channels, with ability to analyse use data and generate associated reports.

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Good time management skills and ability to perform well while handling simultaneous tasks.

Computer Skills:

Competent in use of software packages mainly MS Office

Language and Communication Skills:

Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Terms and Conditions

 Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

 Working Hours: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Type of contract and duration: 1 year consultancy contract
