Background Information
The Position:
Under the general supervision of the UNFPA Deputy Representative, the direct supervision of the Program Specialist in charge of Reproductive Health at UNFPA and in collaboration with the Project Analyst, the Administrative and Finance Assistant based in Yaoundé will provide support to the Project team in the conduct of interventions related to the ” Support to female Refugees and malnourished Children from Central African Republic, Nigeria and Cameroon ” project. S/he will work under the functional supervision of the International Operations Manager (IOM). S/he will build relationships with country office program and operations teams, project personnel, participating UN agencies, national counterparts as well as service providers, for efficient and effective delivery of quality services.

Job Purpose:
As part of the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to the Government of Cameroon in general and the implementation of the 7th UNFPA – Government of Cameroon Cooperation program, UNFPA has just received funding from KFW (German Development Bank) for the implementation of the Project entitled “Support to female Refugees and malnourished Children from Central African Republic, Nigeria and Cameroon”. This joint project, which will be carried out in collaboration with United Nations International Children’s Educational Fund (UNICEF) aims to improve health and nutrition status of refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and local population particularly of malnourished young women, pregnant women and children under five, in the four most vulnerable regions of Cameroon (Far North, North, East and Adamawa).
In the context of the implementation of this project, you will play a vital role in delivering quality support in logistics and administration to internal and external clients, applying all relevant rules, guidelines and procedures with a client-oriented results-focused approach. You will ensure efficient and reliable administrative and financial requirements are fulfilled and reported in a timely manner with required quality checks, in line with UNFPA procedures and guidelines.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
You would be responsible for:
Establishing a system for the day-to-day management and classification of technical and financial documents (quarterly work plans, correspondences, periodic reports, etc.);
Provide technical support to implementing partners in the preparation of accounting documents;
Analyze project logistics, expenses and prepare monthly and quarterly financial and logistic reports and updates when due;
Receive and make available to users, equipment and consumables for the smooth running of project activities;
Process and edit purchase orders for payments;
Plan, schedule and coordinate, travel and logistics for meetings, workshops, payments and financial reports no later than two days after the event;
Provide equipment control, inventory and physical verification during equipment inspection and prepare periodic inventory reports;
Make regular follow-up visits to the different project sites;
Perform all other required administrative tasks such as: photocopying, sending emails, filing, archiving, etc.
Carry out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Completed Secondary Level Education required.
First level university degree in Management, Accounting, Finance or other related field is desirable.
Knowledge and Experience:
Have at least 5 years of experience in administrative & finance responsibilities, procurement, logistics or similar.
Familiar with common office software (word processing, Excel, filing, presentation, internet, email);
Ability to multi-task, and identify and resolve operational problems.
Languages:
Fluency in English and French is required.
